Vicki's Visiting

Yesterday we had a little rain. Nancy and I did get to walk some in the mall.
We picked our daughter Vicki up at the Clearwater St. Pete Airport last night at !0:30 pm but by the time she got her lugage it was 11:00. We got back home close to midnight,so we were pretty well worn out.
Today we took our time getting ready and after getting ready we took Vicki down To Chestnut Park were we walked the trails. On the way back we had dinner at Christo's.

Yesterday morning was still a little warmer at 68° you just knew something was coming in. Around 11:00 am it started to getting dark, then getting darker. At 11:30 am it started to rain and the wind was blowing a little with stronger gust every now and then.

Nice Day

Yesterday morning it was 65° so I told Nancy with it being so warm something must be blowing in.

In the afternoon we went walking again today it was down to John Chestnut Park That sits along Tarpon Lake. As we crossed the bridge to go to the walking trail we saw these turtles on a log getting some sun,

The lily pads floating on the water looked nice.

The wildflowers were out in all their beauty. We had a very good walk as the weather was sunny and a soft warm breeze was blowing.

James E. Grey Preserve

Yesterday morning started out with the usual breakfast, then because it was tuesday a day which we can wash our cars here in the park,I washed the car.
75° here at 10:30 am. It sure feels better then the people up north where the temp was 24°.
In the afternoon we went to the James E. Grey Preserve to do some walking.
This is another place we like to walk. We didn't see wild animals today. Some of the paths are wide and dirt walking.
Then some of it along close to the river is a nice new boardwalk. You can get some nice views walking the boardwalk.

Blood Work

Yesterday we had to wake up early to go and get our bloodwork taken care of. The nurse had a hard time getting enough blood out of my arm for some reason. She said she thought she had enough to have it checked. I used to be able to fill one of those little tubes in no time at all. One thing I never could understand is why they have to take so much blood when all they need is a little bit to check to see what you have or don't have. Of course theres a lot of things I do not understand. From there we stopped at a small restuarant for breakfast. the lady took our order and by the time we had drank half of our coffee she was bringing our order. This was the fastest service we have ever had. When we got back home we changed clothes and went out to J B Starkey Park to do some walking.

Saturday Lena and Earl came over from Zepherhills to visit and go to the flea market. Nancy bought a few things and being watchful of what I spend(Nancy calls me a cheapskate) I bought a VCR. When I got home and tried it out I couldn't get it to come up on the tv screen. No problem I'll take it back tomorrow.
After church we went to dinner with our friends Lee and Hazel. Then it was off to the flea market to exchange the VCR. I found another but it didn't look as good as the first one I had so I told the lady to hook up the one I had to see if she could get it to work. Well yep it worked for her,I says put a tape in see if it plays. yep again real nice so I says I'll take it back. I came home hooked every thing up and what do you know I get the menu on the tv. I put in a tape to play and the thing is all messed up,the speech is garbled the picture all streakie. not one bit good. I'm not taking it back,to the trash pile it goes.
I hope you have a good day.

Yesterday morning was not as cold as the previous morning it was way up to 33°.
After we ate lunch we went down to John Chestnut Park that sets along side of Tarpon Lake to do some walking.
We just saw the usual things like this cardinal that was flying around looking at us.
And this squirrel that wanted me to take a close up picture of him.
On the way back we stopped and did some grocery shopping in Walmarts. The rest of the evening was eating supper and watching tv.

Cold weather got me

Yesterday morning and it was 30°. The cold didn't exactly get me but it got my tomato plants. I had them covered some but I guess the cold was long enough to do the damage. Man the tomatoes were nice and green and almost ready to turn red. I will just have to get some more and start over. The sun came out and warmed up to around 55 °.

Cold in Florida

Yes it does get cold in Florida. We woke up to 34° yesterday morning. The weather people promised us that we would be in the 70s by the weekend so I guess we can handle that.

New President

Good luck President Obama. Like most of the world we watched as we got a new president put in office and like the others before him we hope the best for him and our country.
It was cold and very windy all day yesterday and we are suppose to have freezing weather for the night. I just hope my tomato plants can fight through it. Tonight and tomorrow night its cold weather then it starts to warm back up to normal temps,I can hardly wait for that.

Yesterday it was windy most of the day and the temp was around 65°. We went 15 miles north of were we are on a side road to visit the community of Aripeka. This is a small town that time has about forgotten. It looks about the same as it was 50 or so years ago. If you want to see how Florida looked at that time this is the place to visit.

The gulf canal comes in under a couple of bridges in the town and the people will be there on the bridges fishing anytime you are going through. No super highways here just a two lane road with a speed limit of 35 MPH.
North of town there is a nice little park, here is a tower that is several stories high where you can climb to get a good view.
As you can see from this advantage point you can see the gulf. You can also see across the highway is a parking place where you can fish off of a wooden walkway and you can launch your boat to go out through the canal into the gulf. A very nice place to spend a little time. We had a nice time in this short drive from the house.
On the way back I stopped to se what Circuit City had on the liquidation sale. I was very surprised to see only a 10% mark down in the sale. Not much of a sale. You could do better buying somewhere else. From there we stopped and bought a pizza for our dinner.

More of Same

Its still cool but not cold and should be a little warmer this week.
Yesterday was church day again like every sunday. After church we came home ate dinner then I settled in to watch a couple of play off games. That took up the rest of the day. Hope your day was a little more exciting then mine, but thats the way some days go.

Still on the cool side

Yep,its still cool and going to be that way for at least another week. Yesterday we thought we would go down to a flea market we hadn't been to before only to find out it wasn't open on fridays. So we went to the big Target Super Store. We walked arond and around at least getting some walking in but we didn't buy anything. It was getting late in the evening and on the way back we went to Christo's for dinner,we both had spaghetti for dinner.

Bargain Day

Yesterday we went out running around to the Salvation Army Store and the Thrift Stores.
We pulled into the parking lot of the small Salvation Army Store that is close by but was unable to park because it was so crowded,it was half price on clothing day and everyone was out looking for a bargain. So we went to the Thrift Store where I found a "almost new" keyboard for Nancy's webtv. The cost was a bargain and a half at 50 cents. Nancy gathered up some book that she thought was $2.00 worth and took them to the counter. The guy told her she could fill up a Walmart bag full for $2.00. That made her day. Next was off to the large new Salvation Army Store. Nancy found her some things to buy in this store,so we had a good day at those two stores. Next was to Webb's 99¢ store were we bought a bunch of Archway cookies.
After all that shopping we went to the mall to do our walking. Another good full day.

Wednesday, January 14, 2009

I guess it just depends on you whether or not it was cool or cold this morning. To me it was cold, the temp was 42*. Still more of the same and maybe colder as the week comes and goes. I know the people in the north are having much colder weather, but we're here in Florida and its suppose to be warm. After all why else do you come to Florida in the winter?

Another Cool Day

Yesterday was a cool damp gray sky day all day long. The temp stayed around 68-70 all day. I did get over to Home Depot to get a magnetic catch to hold the bathroom door open. We took a short walk around the park. It was another one of those stay inside kind of days. Again I watched some college basketball games on the tv.

Nice and Cool Day

We did get out for a little while yesterday.

Getting out and seeing gas prices that are higher then they should be is no fun. With the oil prices going down and gas prices going up it doesn't make sense.
We went to J B Starkey Parj to walk and saw this armadillo hunting for something to eat. The weather was nice and cool so there were a bunch of people out riding their bikes and roller blading.

Hanging around the park

The weather is still cool of the nights but the day time temps are in the 70's. We've just been hanging around and not going anywhere. I've been watching the basketball games today and going to watch some football games tonight. Maybe not to exciting for some people but if you like to watch the games you know what I'm talking about. We did do our walking around the park this evening.

What Storm?

Yesterday we were suppose to get a storm. The way the wind was blowing the night before and again yesterday morning I thought we were in for a good one. Around noon time it started to rain real hard and I thought here it comes. Well it may have lasted 15 minutes and then nothing. It quit,I mean,I thought the way the weather people were talking it would really be a big storm. After the rain was over we went to the roadside market for vegetables then on to Walmart. we did our walking then I once again settled in to watch the ballgames. Speaking of ballgames I see where Direct TV is going to have free preview of the espn sports package for the next week. WOW now that is going to be a very good week for me.
It was cool last night and 44* when we woke up this morning.
Hope you are staying warm wherever you may be.

We did get out and look around yesterday. We went to the Picnic Island Park that is jutting out in Tampa Bay. This is a nice park with a lot of picnic tables and shelters. There is a fishing pier to try your luck at fishing. There were several people fishing from the pier.
Here is a Coast Guard boat keeping close check on things.

McDill AFB is close by,I thought this was a plane from the base but looking at the marking of the plane I think it may be a Coast Guard plane. The plane was continously circling over head.

The wind was strong on the bay and this pelican was just bouncing along on the water.
It was nice to get out and look for different things.

Just Blogging

I notice on the blogs of other people that I keep up with they are saying how the clicking of the google ads are down. Well mine are more than down they are "ZERO". I can understand because unlike the other bloggers I have a very few that read my blog. When the others have 6 or 7 hundred a day they are down. I have never had even one hundred hits a day since I've been blogging. I'm not like some of the others that have written books or are big contributors to the forums. My blog is for the family and friends that I've met on the way that wants to keep up with Nancy and me. Sometimes a blog becomes stale like when we are just being like everyone else and just living from day today. Hopefully soon we can add something interesting.

Monday, January 05, 2009

We went to church yesterday and heard another good sermon from the pastor.
After church we came home had lunch then I settled in towatch a couple of games. The 2 teams I was hoping to win lost so I guess I may have jinxed those teams. Watching the games took up the rest of the day. So another day without to mch excitment.

Sitting Around

Yesterday we did go to the USA Flea Market again. I bought a couple of those "Shamwow"clothes that I saw on tv to try out. It must be the imitation because it cost way less than the ones on tv. Watched some more games on the tube as I will again today. Some good games to get you excited about were on. Other then that just sitting around and getting very lazy, which is not good for us. We do get in a little walking each. Oh yeah,we stopped in the mall and Nancy bought her a couple pairs of shoes.

Can you believe it? Another year has gone by,and we're still around. I wish you the best this year. To day will be almost the same as other days except I will be eating cabbage rolls most of the day. I will also be watching the bowl games. But first I must take down some Christmas decorations and put them away. So have yourself a good day.
Friday we went to the USA Flea Market and did quite a bit of walking, also bought a few things.
From there we went to Walmart and did some grocery shopping. After getting back home we put the groceries away and went down to James Ge Preserve to finish up our walking for the day.
After getting home I fired up the grill and fixed us a couple of steaks to perfection, boy did it taste good.
Yesterday we did a few things around the house,I washed the car and watched a couple of basketball games. The in the evening time we went to our friends Jim and Donna. We visited for a short while then went out to a nice dinner, came back to Donna and Jim's house to sit around and visit a couple of hours.
